Ang Kakapal!

No remorse. That's what Sen Gringo Honasan told at press conference in the Senate when asked if he regretted staging coup attempts against the Aquino administration in the late 80s. He said that the coup attempts actually contributed to the "country's democratic development".

How do these coup d'etats develop our democratic system is anybody's guess. Isn't democracy "for the people, of the people, and by the people"? Surely the uprisings that he led were never supported by the people so how could these develop a system of government without the backing of the system's stakeholders, i.e. the people?

Asked if he feels responsible for the economic setback of the country (as a result of the revolt), he mentioned a conversation that he had (when he was underground) with Winnie Monsod whom he asked if the coup attempts he led caused the economy's decline. Monsod told him that these attempts only accelerated it.

Regardless if these uprisings caused it or accelerated it, they still had a hand in throwing the nation's economy in the dung heap.

No remorse? Ang kapal ng mukha mo!

What do Gringo and former President Fidel Ramos have in common, apart from being soldiers?

Both didn't show any remorse for their involvement in coup attempts and Martial Law respectively.

AND, both of them got elected in government posts by people who have no memory of what these men have done in the past.

These celebrity talk shows are doing my heading! Take for example "The Buzz". When Kris Aquino had her problem with her live-in partner James Yap months ago (when she was still pregnant), she had the show's full attention as she let all hell break loose. Take note that during that time she was one of the show's hosts.

Ditto for Ruffa Gutierrez who succeeded Kris in that show. Her rift with her husband has spread like wildfire thanks to the coverage provided by the show. Recently, the couple have reconciled. And true to its form, the show featured this with all the strength that it can muster.

Actors and actresses should be banned from hosting such shows because these shows will be self-serving for these movie stars.

Indeed, Kris and Ruffa, despite how they made a fuss of what seems to be private matters, are reaping a windfall.
