Behind Anluwage's Wheel

Physics tells us that an object is acted upon by several forces that influence its motion. To illustrate, let me use my BMW (I wish!). There is a thrust force that speeds it up while an opposite force called friction slows it down. If I step on the gas full power, my car will accelerate and vice-versa. If I drive steadily or put my hand brake on, all forces involved will have the same size and will therefore be balanced. There’s also gravity that pulls the car downwards (towards the earth), however this is countered by reaction force which pulls the object upwards. Hence the vehicle doesn’t sink into the ground or float in space, unless the road opens up due to an earthquake or a hurricane suddenly rushes to where the car is located.

Anluwage, for me, can be likened to a car. Since its birth it has given a lift to members and non-members alike in their search for better ways of living the faith. It has accelerated on many instances, hitting new grounds in its many endeavours. The “Alamat ng Anluwage” provides us a collection of these works. The group has also slowed down at times – to plan, reflect, and debate on activities or, sadly, it became “off the road” in its very birthplace due to intrigues and apathy.

In all these instances, there is one man who has steered and witnessed almost all of Anluwage’s motion cycle. A blue-blooded Anluwage, he has been one of the brilliant minds behind the organization’s achievements since its inception. His abundant creative juices have consistently been a “guarantee seal” of our service. True enough, his absence one time caused us to whack our brains to no end as we prepared for a video presentation in Gagalangin years back.

His calm approach to issues has allowed him how to deal excellently with Anluwage’s friends and foes. His in-depth thinking contributed to the production of multifarious events which have left an impression among parishioners. A man with a clear understanding of how it is to be part of the Church, he promoted progressive ideas in all organizations he was affiliated with.

A tireless media apostle, he has put forward the creation of a website which we now all enjoy.

If Anluwage is the car, Mike Flores is one of its reliable drivers who know when it is alright to move forward, slow down or stop. I pray that he’ll never grow tired of accompanying us to greater achievements.

Cheers to you, Kabsat on your birthday this 20th June!
